My goal is to write a chapter a week, meaning a first draft in six writing days. And then to spend two to three days revising it with you. This schedule gets me through the remaining 19 chapters by May 13th, so that we can do one full revision by June 13th, which is the earliest day my sabbatical would end.
Goal: 19 more chapters drafted by May 13th, First Revision done June 12th.
Chapter One: Done!
Chapter Two: Draft due to HD November 6th, heavy editing with HD, done November 9th.
Chapter Three: Draft due to HD November 15th, heavy editing with HD done on November 18th
Chapter Four: Draft to HD November 26th, done November 29th.
Chapter Five: Draft to HD December 6th, done editing with HD Dec 9
Chapter Six: Draft to HD Dec 16th, done editing with HD Dec 18th.
****Six chapters done by the time I head home for Christmas and the Tara Retreat. Depending on your schedule, I can write two draft chapters by January 1st that we can heavy edit through January 7th.
8 Chapters by January 7th.
Chapter Seven: Written over X mas break, due Dec 27th when I leave Wheaton for Baltimore. (I don't have Kelly for this week. Hardest week of whole year).
Chapter Eight: Write on Tara Retreat due January 1st. Edit 7th and 8th, through January 7th.
Chapter Nine: Due Jan 14th, (Maybe living in SF this week). Edits done with HD January 17th.
Chapter Ten: Due Jan 24th, (Two day break for Monica's birthday--will write but will be hard to edit) Edit with HD Jan 27th and Jan 28th, done on Jan 29th.
Chapter Eleven: Due Feb 5th, edited through Feb 8th.
Chapter Twelve: Due Feb 15th, edited through Feb 18th.
Chapter Thirteen: Due Feb 25th, edited through Feb 28th.
Chapter Fourteen: Due March 7th, edit until March 11th.
Chapter Fifteen: Due March 18th, edit through 21st
Chapter Sixteen: Due March 28th, Edit through April 2nd.
Chapter Seventeen: Due April Ninth, Edit through April 12th
Chapter Eighteen: Due April 19th, edit through April 23rd.
Chapter Nineteen: Due April 30 edit through May 3rd
Chapter Twenty: Due May 8th, Edit May 12, 13th. (Unavailable for hard edting May 11th for first gay wedding of friend Ken in Texas--will still write.)
May 13th through June 13th Do one full edit of the book.
June 13th through July 13th, Second full edit of the book
July 13th through August 13th, third full edit of the book.
Sent to publisher August 26th.
It is best to stick to the same schedule whether I get pregnant or move. My end date is very slippery right now.
I actually have three potential end dates to the Sabbatical.
June 13th is the earliest I would move to X country. This could change if I am not pregnant a week from now. If I am pregnant, I will deliver on July 28th and need to move to the country at 34 weeks pregnant when I am still allowed to fly. That said, I would work for 4-6 weeks and then have 3-5 months off. If I don't get pregnant, and I can push my arrival date back to the latest possible date, that would be August 27th. And if I get prego later, like in January, I could still land and then have 3-5 months off. I think after three weeks of a new born, I can get back to four hours a day.
So we have a Plan A, B, and C. In all scenarios, I think I will realistically be prego and doing my second and third complete edit during maternity leave.
Great, glad we have a plan! It is ambitious and very necessary. I am super happy to hear you've set your intention for the different life circumstances. That's good. Plus, we have it on record here.
