Wild:
A lost 26-year-old woman, devastated by the loss of her mother and the discarding and destruction of her marriage, crosses the PCT to find her self and heal.
(She doesn't do it convincingly, she quickly tells us in one page that in ten years she figure it out, but there is no link between her heroine wanderings, and her bad packing that leads to her transformation).
Truth and Beauty
Unconditional love can come through friendship, but even then it gets tested. Two women, talented writers, try to make lives publishing their fiction and poetry, one overcomes her calm, uneventful challanges like the faithful ant and the other, who was blessed or cursed with a deformed face suffers continually until she eventually commits suicide. (You will care and keep reading. It gets better as it goes. Characters change).
BOOC--
Bone, born to a young women who had already lost a husband, marries a jerk who molests and beats her daughter. Despite loving her daughter, and despite knowing the horror the daughter endures, the mother chooses the beating awful husband over her.
